I agree and feel like most if not all of the default empires should get their own.

Yes please, I also hope we can get the ability to customize our starting system some day. Being able to choose star type, whether your home world is a moon of a gas giant or whether it has moons of its own, etc. would really help immersion and role playing.

A system editor tool, with a friendly interface showing the planets, the orbits, dragging and placing things around, exactly as it would look like, damn that would be awesome, be it for starting systems or modding new systems in

I'd go one better and have a starting system editor, with a points based system on what you can and can't have in there (additional inhabited planets, asteroid rings, no of planets, gateways etc.)

YES. This would make player designed empires a little more unique, I would love that.

I'm totally in for a system editor tool. There could be advanced options to add a wormhole and abandoned megastructure/gateway (disabling ironman, of course). This way we could really develop some deep roleplay into our empires and even the alien empires.

Hell having a starting system editor with points to allocate makes a lot of sense we can customise everything else why not give a points based system to customise our start with the option to turn of the points system at the expense of Ironman.

Wouldn’t the meta of a self designed starting system be prety obvious: minerals to the max?

We have custom nation designer in EU4, I don't see why a similar points system wouldn't work for designing home system / species / civics

It's really a simple solution: no player control over the resources. Just the types, positions, and sizes of objects.

I'd love a system editor, but I don't really see the point of adding a bunch of new prescripted starting systems.

A home system editor for empire creation is an awesome idea. I don't see the use of a system editor in the game beyond that though, except as a fun cheat mode.

I can see a few useful ones for RP purposes - the forest moon of Endor (or similar concepts), or a mirror of a famous sci-fi of some other sort might be an attractive idea for some players. Some might find it amusing to start on an ice world of some sort around a brown dwarf.
I'd be mildly interested, but not enough to want it to be the focus of an expansion, or for it to take up a large chunk of anyone's time.

A means of setting the number and type of planetary bodies in your starting system would be great. I certainly wouldn't expect you to be able to set resource types or quantity, but the ability to define what else is in your starting system for lore or aesthetic reasons would be fantastic.

Home system customization feels like it's the one thing lacking in race design that should be there, I fully support this idea. I suppose a slider or point system between homeworld tile size and space resources might be something to also consider, but I like keeping the space resources either randomized or balanced between minerals/energy/science.

I'd be happy with just being able to pick my homeworld background, maybe the star type too.
