Salary:

The full salary range is $45,300 - $68,000. The salary of thefinalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a varietyof factors, including but not limited to, internal equity,experience, education, training and qualifications.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith andreasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at thetime of posting.

Department

Position Summary

This job will support faculty members in the fiscal management oftheir awards while managing the risk level to the university.Sponsored Projects Accounting and Compliance (SPAC) within theOffice of the Controller, works arm and arm with the Office ofSponsored Research and Programs (OSRP).

The position independently makes decisions and authorizes actionswith respect to federal, state and local expenditures on sponsoredprojects. Reviews and interprets award terms and conditions toaccurately and timely set-up awards in Banner and/or Workday.Ensures compliance in accordance with agency terms and conditionsand University ICR agreement with federal government. Initiatesmonthly, quarterly and annual grant journal entries for effectivefinancial reporting. Works closely with Admins of sponsoredprojects from the Department of Education to ensure financialintegrity of award.

Responsibilities:

35%

  • Reviews and approves all Restricted funds expenditures throughAP, wire transfer, internal transfers, payroll reclass andcorporate card for reasonableness, allowable and allocable.
  • Expert knowledge on each funding agency cost allowancepolicy.
  • Reviews subcontract invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintains compliance and schedule of all stipendpayments.

  • Completes all Federal draws and line of credits.
  • Maintains F/A worksheet of DL and MDL draws and forwards to F/Afor review.
  • Initiates return of funds as requested or needed. Duties areheightened during spring semester prior to fiscal year end.
  • Also runs billings for agencies who pay outside of G5.

  • Monthly, quarterly and annual grant journal entries:
  • Fringe to Actual entries for Grant base pay
  • Unemployment entries
  • Actual fringe entries
  • DL and MDL accruals and reversals
  • Confirms monthly payroll grant transactions
  • Unapplied payments reclasses and reversals
  • Record semester financial aid wire transfers from CDHE
  • Eliminate FY ICR Assist PIs with the creation of customizedreports. Quarterly: Negative AR and reversal.

  • Maintains monthly Budget to Actual Report.
  • Updates and verifies all grant budgets in banner monthly.
  • Manages accurate Fund roll over amounts.

  • Award Financial Management Oversight. This will include agencyknowledge and assisting with quarterly financial check ins withPI/Admin: Department of ED-EAC, HSUB, SSS, CAMP.

  • Assists as point of contact to grant PIs and admins, ensuringtimely responses to inquiries from the department email address:grants@msudenver.edu.
  • Assists with post-award closeout process of awards. Maintaincurrent procedure binder.

  • Maintains Cash Match and ICR balances and reports monthly.Monthly Foundation billings (scholarship, AP, Payroll).
  • Monitors grant terminated employees.
  • Performs grant collection duties and serves as backup toGrant/Financial Aid Accountant.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university inaccounting.
  • At least two years of professional work or accountingexperience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous grants accounting experience.
  • Experience with Banner finance accounting.
  • Experience with Workday financial management.
  • Experience handling complex reconciliations.

Work Hours/Type:

8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

Hybrid schedule (on-campus and remote) available for thisposition
